Elementary School

Roland Park Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through 5th grade in its residential zone.  The elementary program follows Maryland’s Voluntary State Curriculum and implements the nationally recognized Direct Instruction reading method and Scott Forseman and McGraw Hill Mathematics curriculum.  In addition, the school provides instruction in writing, social studies, science, fine and visual arts, vocal and instrumental music, physical education, and Spanish and French language.  Class size ranges from the low- to mid-twenties. Through a partnership with Goucher University, many elementary classes have university students receiving teaching degrees who are completing internships and working side-by-side with the teachers.  A hand-picked staff of highly gifted teachers creates the joy of learning that permeates the halls and classrooms of the elementary school.

Additional information about the educational requirements for Maryland's public schools can be found at the Maryland’s Voluntary State Curriculum and at the Maryland State Department of Education.
