Because Roland Park has more than 1200 students and more than 100 faculty and staff, effective communication is crucial. To this end, the PTA, through its parent volunteers, has been at the forefront of developing new methods of increasing communication among the school, students, and families.
- Newsletter -- The PTA funds the school’s bi-weekly newsletter “The Goldenrod.” This newsletter provides the most current news regarding the school and includes both a Principal’s column and PTA President’s column. Parents volunteers are necessary to distribute the 1200 plus copies that are distributed to our children to take home to their families. Parent volunteers also help with the design and editing of the newsletter.
- Website -- Working with the school’s administrators and faculty and parents with technology expertise in the summer of 2006, the PTA funded the creation of this website as a new tool for communication at the school. A website designer was hired and the site was launched in December 2006. Compliments, concerns, and suggestions for improvement may be sent to the current PTA President listed in the PTA contact section.
- Roland Park PTA Listserv – In 2004, in response to the fiscal crisis affecting all Baltimore City public schools, one parent established an on-line community for parents of students at Roland Park to discuss issues of concern unique to this community. This community has grown to over 375 participants and allows parents to discuss issues and to timely communicate events and happenings at the school. Membership is open to all Roland Park parents and faculty. Access the listserv by clicking here: Roland Park Listserv. If you have problems accessing this or any other questions, please contact parent (and listserv moderator) Dave Waldo.
